Sega announces a very successful IAAPA show - thanks to its excellent line-up of innovative new amusements products, Daytona Championship USA, Hoopla, Pirate Falls, Maze Escape and Prize Arrow.
Daytona Championship USA won the Prestigious Brass Ring Award for Best New Product in the Arcade & Video Games Category. Upon receiving the award Paul Williams, CEO at Sega, commented: “We are delighted by the award and humbled by the industry’s recognition for our innovation and the quality of entertainment delivered by Daytona.” The award-winning game has been at the top of operator’s buying list, thanks to the instant re-match feature that puts players right back into the game thus boosting repeat play. Exhibited with the latest software update, Daytona had superior game handling, featured the brand-new party mode, panoramic attract sequence and 4-way gear shifter. For the first time, Daytona was shown with the brand-new overhead multi-coloured lights, which is available for 4, 6 or 8 player cabinet configurations. Daytona Championship USA was extremely popular with all eight cabinets being played throughout the show, thanks to the fun and exciting gameplay, attractive cabinet and clever features that makes the game ideal for new or seasoned Daytona players.
Hoopla was an instant hit at the show, the carnival-themed, 100% skill redemption game attracted players young and old. The simple and fun gameplay sees players toss hoops on all 7 hooks within the given time, to progress to the bonus round. The brightly lit eye-catching cabinet also features a conveyor belt that constantly feeds the player with more hoops. The lowered wide playfield allows parents and kids, or friends to team up and win the game together. “We are very pleased by the reception and high praises from customers for Hoopla. A number of our customer have put this as their must-have redemption game for 2018,” says Justin Burke, General Manager at Sega.
There was also a lot of excitement for Sega’s latest pirate-themed video redemption game Pirate Falls. Packed full of action, charm and funny moments, players use the unique barrel controller to keep the on-screen pirate balanced on the log. Rotating the barrel left or right players must collect treasures, avoid bombs and gather the letters to spell “Pirates” to win the super ticket bonus. International Sales Manager, Martin Riley said, “my international customers like this game for its intuitive gameplay, family-friendly appeal and small footprint – it’s perfect for FEC’s across the world.”
Maze Escape is the brand new mechanical redemption game, where players must manoeuvre a ball through the maze and land it through the bonus zone by rotating the super-sized wheel. Players always win some tickets when they get the ball through one of six other win zones. “This 100% skill game is easy enough to understand, but challenging enough that keeps players coming back for more. What’s more is that the instant interaction between the wheel and rotating maze feels great,” says Vince Moreno, USA Sales Manager at Sega.
In the merchandise category was Prize Arrow a follow up to Sega’s hugely successful prize vending game Key Master. Prize Arrow is a 100% skill game that is very easy to understand and tests player’s accuracy. Once the game is coined up, the target wheel starts spinning. Players then must carefully aim the arrow at the wheel and with one simple touch of a button launch it towards the wheel. A successful player will get the arrow in one of eight slots, each numbered and relating to a prize. Vince explained that “this game is so simple to grasp and has that ‘one more try’ gameplay appeal that makes it a winner. The size and look of it makes it ideal for all locations”. Sega Prize International complimented the prize games by showing their latest, highly desirable plush toys and electronic products. Sega Total Solutions, a fundamental part of Sega’s after sales service and spares were also on hand to answer questions and discuss their offering of high-quality redemption tickets.
Other popular high income earning Sega games were also exhibited. Including Target Bravo: Operation Ghost (action adventure) available in 55” Theater and Upright cabinet, Lets Go Island Dream Edition (action adventure) available in 55” motion cabinet and Storm Racer G Motion (video racing) which features a motion base and graphics that deliver a high sense of speed.
In time for IAAPA Sega partnered with Firestone Financial to offer its customers two fantastic finance deals on Daytona Championship USA, Luigi’s Mansion Arcade, Mario and Sonic at the Rio Olympics, Hello Kitty Air Hockey, Sonic Basket Ball with new reactive LED lighting, Sonic Baby Air Hockey and four player Sonic Air Hockey.
